Daniel P. Durgin, MA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Dan Durgin is the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources at Kennedy Krieger Institute. He is responsible for the organizational oversight of workforce development, benefits, compensation planning, employee relations and legislative and regulatory compliance. Dan also spearheaded and leads the Institute’s Leadership Development Programs and oversees the Institute’s Performance Management Program.

Biographical Sketch:

Dan began his career in the for-profit sector managing multi-million dollar big box retail operations in Buffalo, Boston, Northern Virginia and Washington, DC. That experience revealed his talent for organizational development and leading teams which ultimately led him to re-focus his career into the profession of Human Resource Management. Dan started his foray into Human Resources as the HR Manager at the The ProMarc Agency, and then i360 Technologies, both in Washington, DC. He then progressed to Director of Human Resources at Southern Maryland Vocational Industries, a mission oriented not-for-profit that provides residential and vocational services to adults with disabilities in Forestville, MD. Inspired by the mission, he then joined Kennedy Krieger Institute in the spring of 2003.

Dan earned his BA in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Oswego, and his MA in Management and Leadership from Notre Dame of Maryland University. Dan holds the Human Resources industry’s most prestigious certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and also the Society of Human Resource Management esteemed designation of Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
