Dr. Harvey has worked as a clinician in the field of intellectual disabilities for over 25 years. She has a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of Maryland. She has published articles about therapeutic interventions with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), workbooks for individuals with IDD and two books. Her first book, Positive Identity Development, was published in 2009 and presents both theory and guidance for clinicians doing therapy with individuals with ID. Her second book, Trauma-Informed Behavioral Interventions, was published in 2011 and presents a trauma-informed care approach to working with individuals with ID both programmatically and clinically.
She consults with various state and individual agencies throughout the United States and Canada and trains staff, administrators and clinicians on trauma-informed care. Dr. Harvey currently serves as The Park Avenue Group’s Director of Training and Program Development.
Kara Silber, MSW, LCSW-C is a licensed clinical social worker and has been practicing in her work with children and families since 1999. Ms. Silber has worked for Department of Social Services Child Protective Services and a hospital-based domestic violence program. She has provided consultation with local hospitals for child psychiatric emergencies as well as consultation with the Department of Juvenile Services for incarcerated youth.
Kara Silber has practiced social work in the Baltimore City Public School System for the last 12 years. Ms. Silber works clinically with children ages 4-15 in her practice setting with individuals, groups, and collaborates with the local school community.
She provides consultation to teachers and school administrators on working with students and their families. She has developed school based grants to sustain a school food pantry and uniform closet. Areas of specialty include bullying prevention, suicide prevention, and behavior management.
Ms. Janet Hosford-Lamb is an Adjunct Clinical Faculty Member at University of Maryland’s School of Social Work. She teaches Clinical Work with Addictive Behavior Patterns to Masters leveled students. In 2011 she received honorable mention for the teacher excellence award. She has also been an instructor with Catholic University’s and Masi Research Consultant’s online International Employee Assistance School. She instructs international seasoned professionals on the topic Advanced Clinical EAP application.
Ms. Hosford-Lamb was named Who’s Who in Female Entrepreneurs in 2012. She currently supports 3M sites throughout the Washington DC Metropolitan area. She has a total of 15 years of experience working with such organizations as the Government Accountability Agency, 3M, Pfizer, Northrop Grumman, Shepell.fgi, UPS, Masi Research Consultants and more. She also works one on one with individuals, couples and families.
Janet Hosford-Lamb is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Employee Assistance Professional and CEO of Focused Solutions, a workplace consulting and private therapy practice. She focuses on employee, management and worksite consultations along with workplace critical incident management.
In addition to developing courses for Training & eTracking Solutions, Dr. Jodi Jacobson Frey is an Associate Professor at The University of Maryland, School of Social Work. Dr. Jacobson Frey chairs the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) sub-specialization and the Financial Social Work Initiative. Her MSW and PhD degrees were earned from the University of Maryland.
Dr. Jacobson Frey’s research focuses on workplace behavioral health, including the impact of health and well-being on employee productivity and safety. She studies the effectiveness of workplace programs such as EAPs, work/life and financial capability programs. A second area of interest for her research focuses on traumatic stress with an emphasis on suicide prevention.
Recent refereed articles have been published in American Journal of Addictions, Social Work, Journal of Social Work Education, Journal of Workplace Behavioral Health, Research on Social Work Practice, and Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior. Dr. Jacobson Frey has presented research findings at international conferences including, but not limited to: American Association of Suicidology, Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA), Employee Assistance Society for North America, and the Society for Social Work Research.
Dr. Jacobson Frey is actively involved with EAPA as the past chair of EAPA’s Subcommittee on Workplace Disaster Preparedness and Response. In 2006, she was the recipient of the EAPA President’s Award for Excellence, recognizing her work on this committee. Dr. Jacobson is also an active member of the Employee Assistance Society of North America (EASNA) Knowledge, Transfer and Research Committee and a certified trainer for the American Association of Suicidology.
Prior to teaching full-time, Dr. Jacobson Frey provided EA and work/life services to NASA, Goddard Space Flight Center, where she was recognized with several awards for her service to employees and family members. As an employee of COPE, Inc., and later as an EA professional in private practice, she worked for several years providing direct EAP, outpatient mental health, and crisis intervention services. Dr. Jacobson Frey also works with MASI Research Consultants, Inc. as a senior researcher for the international consulting firm specializing in the evaluation of EAPs and work/life programs.
The former Chief Learning Officer at Chimes International Ltd., Ann is chief advisor for all training programs relating to developmental disabilities. Ann earned a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and an MBA from Loyola College.
At Chimes, Ann was responsible for developing learning strategies for the Chimes Family of Services and its subsidiaries in six states and the District of Columbia, with a special emphasis on programs for people with intellectual and associated disabilities. As a part of her responsibilities, she identified staff training and development needs and developed the tools needed to facilitate this training.
With Training & eTracking Solutions, Ann supports the development of a new level of training program that can best prepare people for working with individuals with developmental disabilities, for whom she has staunchly advocated. With her years of experience developing tools for staff training, combined with her years of experience serving the needs of those with developmental disabilities, Ann is truly in an ideal position to ensure that online training programs will be the most effective for their users.
Jeffrey has over 40 years of professional experience in human services and education. He provides consulting and training to public and private, non-profit and for-profits on organizational improvement, strategic planning and maximizing organizational success.
He also works with direct service staff in out-of-home care, focusing on improving services and incorporating best practices into agencies around the country. Jeffrey was previously the Senior Director for Special Projects and Training at Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) for over a decade. He has also has taught at the university level, publishing several books for helping professionals.
Before working at CWLA, he worked for human services agencies providing a wide range of services including out-of-home care (group home, residential and foster care), family preservation services, outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment, and adoption.
He began his career as a school teacher, school principal and worked for the Texas Department of Education providing school improvement services for over a decade.
Currently, Jeffrey is a nationally recognized trainer, and works locally as a California Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCS 15130) and a California licensed provider of Continuing Education (PCE 4433) with over 40 years of professional experience in human services and education.
Jeffrey’s subject matter areas of expertise include Trauma Informed Treatment in Child Caring Agencies and implementing Evidence Based Practices in Child Caring Agencies. In addition, Mr. Bormaster also brings the knowledge and ability to assess modern-day organizational challenges including: understanding the multi-generational challenges of todays workforce, recruiting and retaining generation X and Y employees, motivating staff, hiring right, interviewing effectively, and improving operational success.
Since November 2008, Shelly McLaughlin has served as the Director of Communications at Pathfinders for Autism. In that role, she is responsible for the research and management of information on multiple aspects of autism across the lifespan, including the creation of an Autism By Age navigation tool. Shelly uses her collaborations with experts and research, as well as from her personal experiences with her son who has Autism to pen a monthly Parent Tips article that offers practical solutions to everyday autism challenges. Her articles have appeared in other publications, such as Chicago Special Parent Magazine and Autism Parenting Magazine.
Shelly has conducted Autism trainings for various organizations including the Maryland State Police, Maryland Capitol Police, multiple County Police Departments, EMS staff, colleges, Exceptional Family Programs, State’s Attorneys, adult medical day programs, restaurants, schools, hotels, libraries, foster care programs and other professional organizations. She also serves as an appointed member on the Governor’s Interagency Transition Council for Youth with Disabilities.
The Director of Programs at Pathfinders for Autism, Trish Kane is responsible for the daily intake of questions and concerns from parents, caregivers, educators, professionals and individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Trish provides support and resources through research, field work and personal experience. In addition, she identifies partners, topics and speakers for the PFA annual training series throughout Maryland and organizes family fun events throughout the state to bring enjoyment and social opportunities for families.
Since March, 1995, she has advocated for her 20-year-old son with ASD and offers an understanding of supports and accommodations that work while facing the challenges of going out to eat, visiting the dentist, etc. Trish is on the Board of Directors for The Abilities Network, a local Maryland community and vocational support organization.
Arlene D. Hackbarth, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, has more than 30 years of experience in the field of behavioral and emotional health working with children, youth and families. Originally from New Jersey, Arlene moved to Maryland while completing her BA and MS in Psychology from Loyola University. As a certified clinician, she has helped countless children and families through counseling and treatment planning.
Arlene has held a variety of management positions in residential agencies for youth, including Unit Director, Risk Manager, and Director of Continuous Quality Improvement where she provided extensive training to staff, parents and teachers on a number of topics including behavioral interventions.
In addition to her work in residential programs, Arlene has a private practice specializing in working with individuals, families, and couples.
Arlene recently served as an appointee of the Governor of Maryland on a task force dealing with the treatment of co-occurring disorders.
Jason Collender, Licensed and Certified Clinical Social Worker, has more than 25 years of experience in the field of behavioral and emotional health working with children, adolescents, and adults. Jason completed his BA in psychology at Loyola University Maryland and his MSW at University of Maryland Baltimore. As a licensed and certified clinician, he has provided psychotherapy, psychoeducation, training, and consultation to countless individuals, groups, and families.
Jason has held a variety of clinical and management positions in hospital, residential treatment, educational, and managed care organizations. He also has years of experience in private practice. With more than 10 years of administrative experience, Jason has effectively led human service programs to improved efficiency, better treatment outcomes, increased staff development, healthy hiring, and employee retention. He has proven experience leading teams toward organizational change and effectiveness. One of Jason’s biggest passions in his work is providing training and consultation to programs, students, employees, and families around the topics of trauma and trauma-informed care practices.
When not working in human services, Jason works as a very part-time musician and weekend carpenter.
Tina Schmitt is the talent acquisition and retention manager for Kennedy Krieger Institute. Tina has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science and Education from Towson University and a Master’s degree in Business Management/ Human Resources. She is certified as a Senior HR Professional by the Society for Human Resources Management. She is also a certified Healthcare Recruiter and Professional in Human Resources by HRCI. Tina has been with the Institute for 22 years. She leads and directs talent strategies for the Institute, including the Institute’s Neurodiversity at Work program. Tina is passionate about talent acquisition, organizational culture, workforce development and training and diversity and inclusion. Recently her efforts have been dedicated to exploring and implementing strategies to include more individuals with all abilities into Kennedy Krieger’s workforce. Tina lives in Perry Hall with her husband, 6 year old son, 4 year old daughter and puppy Duke.
Stacey Herman is the assistant vice president of neurodiversity and community workforce development at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Her role includes the creation and supervision of programs designed to support individuals with disabilities as they transition to the workforce and access their community. This role allows Stacey to interact directly with individuals while working with multiple departments inside Kennedy Krieger Institute and the business community to raise awareness, train and develop employment opportunities for individuals of all abilities. Stacey is also a leading member of Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Neurodiversity Initiative, working with community leaders, business professionals, and policy makers to realize the Institute’s long-term goal of improving employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities. Stacey is currently the president of the Association of People Supporting Employment First Maryland Chapter, and is appointed to the Interagency Transition Council for Youth with Disabilities and Governor’s Workforce Development Board in Maryland.
Stacey graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Inclusion Elementary and Special Education. She then continued her education receiving a Master of Science in Special Education at John’s Hopkins University. In her studies, she focused on severe disabilities with an emphasis in autism. Stacey was recognized, along with her colleague, as a 2019 Leader in Diversity by the Baltimore Business Journal. Stacey was also recognized by The Daily Record as a 2020 Leading Women. Stacey is involved in working groups that are focused on employment, healthy relationships, and transitioning youth across the D.C., Maryland and Virginia areas. She is passionate about providing individuals of all abilities the opportunities, tools and supports to have a successful adult life. Stacey volunteers with Thread, a program that builds relationships and a network for young people to help them navigate high school, employment, and transition into opportunities in their adult life. Stacey has a loving and adorable dog named Sadi who loves ice cubes, walking on warm days, and traveling to visit family.
Dan Durgin is the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources at Kennedy Krieger Institute. He is responsible for the organizational oversight of workforce development, benefits, compensation planning, employee relations and legislative and regulatory compliance. Dan also spearheaded and leads the Institute’s Leadership Development Programs and oversees the Institute’s Performance Management Program.
Biographical Sketch:
Dan began his career in the for-profit sector managing multi-million dollar big box retail operations in Buffalo, Boston, Northern Virginia and Washington, DC. That experience revealed his talent for organizational development and leading teams which ultimately led him to re-focus his career into the profession of Human Resource Management. Dan started his foray into Human Resources as the HR Manager at the The ProMarc Agency, and then i360 Technologies, both in Washington, DC. He then progressed to Director of Human Resources at Southern Maryland Vocational Industries, a mission oriented not-for-profit that provides residential and vocational services to adults with disabilities in Forestville, MD. Inspired by the mission, he then joined Kennedy Krieger Institute in the spring of 2003.
Dan earned his BA in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Oswego, and his MA in Management and Leadership from Notre Dame of Maryland University. Dan holds the Human Resources industry’s most prestigious certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and also the Society of Human Resource Management esteemed designation of Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
Dr. Becca Colangelo is the assistant director of Meaningful Community Services at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She helps to oversee the Project SEARCH and CORE Foundations programming at Kennedy Krieger. In 2018, Dr. Colangelo completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Drexel University. Her research explored the transitional challenges that families face when adolescents with more severe diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder transition from traditional school settings to placements with adult service agencies. In addition to her role as the assistant director, Becca serves as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Maryland and the University of the People.
Dr. Kimberly Fleming is President of Core Education, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in teacher effectiveness initiatives. Experienced at the school, central office, university and state levels, Fleming has a broad understanding of the alignments needed to achieve educational improvement. She has worked nationally and internationally to support teacher development and student achievement.
Fleming offers almost 25 years of experience in education. She has worked with 24 school districts and 28 institutions of higher education as a professional development schools facilitator and alternative teacher preparation program specialist with the Maryland State Department of Education. In addition, she has worked with state education agencies, universities, districts, and nonprofit and for-profit organizations as a consultant.
Dr. Fleming earned her Master’s degree in teacher leadership from Johns Hopkins University and her PhD from the University of Maryland in teacher education and professional development.
Joelle L. Glass has more than 10 years of experience in Public Health. Early on, Joelle knew she wanted to pursue a career in healthcare with a focus on preventative solutions. Her passion for disease prevention was reignited after working as a Prince George’s County Public School teacher when it became clear how vulnerable the youth are to infectious diseases. With a Bachelors of Science in chemistry, three years of teaching experience and a Pharmacy Technician certification, Joelle joined the PG County Health Department Communicable and Vector-borne Disease Control program and contributed her expertise as a Disease Control Specialist.
Joelle continues her work in preventative solutions as an Infection Preventionist in Baltimore. A recent program recipient of an Emerging Leaders Program, Joelle’s latest work was executing a field testing trial with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) on a new Mucosal Barrier Injury Laboratory-Confirmed Bloodstream Infection (MBI-LCBI) definition. The manuscript was accepted for publication in the journal of Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology.
Joelle is an active member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) Pediatric Leadership Council.
Mrs. Grimm is the former Executive Director for the Office of Health Care Quality for the Maryland’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and was responsible for the oversight and monitoring of approximately 13,000 health care facilities and programs with regards to quality of care and both federal and state health care regulatory compliance. Between 1990 and early 2000, she held many different positions in the medical field, including Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse, Infection Control Practitioner, President of Geriatric Psychological Services’ Baltimore Division, and Nurse Coordinator for Clinical Drug Trials. While a law student at the University of Baltimore School of Law, Ms. Grimm served as a law clerk for Circuit Court Judge Robert E. Cahill, Sr. in the Baltimore County Circuit Court.
After obtaining her law degree in 2002 and her admission to the Maryland Bar that same year, she became involved in the legal side of the medical field, providing legal services for the Health Education Resource Organization (HERO), conducting mediation for the Maryland Commission for Human Relations, and taking on positions such as Nurse Attorney Risk Manager as well as the Executive Director for Risk Management, Patient Safety and Infection Control Programs.
These positions provided her with over 10 years of experience in managing claims and potential claims involving health care facilities, as well as participating in policy, procedure, and contract review for state wide agency departments and committees in response to regulatory changes, as well as providing regulatory guidance for individuals and providers. In addition to these responsibilities, she also takes time to instruct new law school graduates in the Maryland Bar Review. Ms. Grimm is actively involved in the pro bono representation of clients for Maryland Volunteer Legal Services.

As the former Deputy Director for Community Programs within the Maryland Office of Health Care Quality for the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH), he was directly responsible for the licensure of Assisted Living Homes, Developmental Disability Administration Programs, Alcohol and Drug Abuse as well as Mental Hygiene Administration Programs, and Mortality Review. Prior to serving as the Deputy Director, Mr. Dorrill was the legislative liaison/Director for DHMH and the Executive Director for the Board of Physician Quality Assurance.
Mr. Dorrill is a 1975 graduate from the University of Baltimore School of Law and was admitted to the Maryland Bar that same year. He is highly skilled in the representation of legal and regulatory matters affecting the health care community. Mr. Dorrill is actively involved in the pro bono representation of clients for Maryland Volunteer Legal Services.

Dr. Karen Hopkins is an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Social Work, University of Maryland, Baltimore, and served as Co-Chair of the Management and Community Organization Concentration for 11 years. She has worked as a consultant and organizational/program evaluator for 17 years at the state and national levels with multiple nonprofit and public agencies related to: Supervision/management practices and outcomes; Workforce development and retention; Organizational learning and capacity-building; and Work-life integration.
She is a national peer reviewer for the “Standards of Excellence” nonprofit certification developed by the Maryland Association of Nonprofits, Board member for the Society for Social Work and Research, and Associate Editor for the Human Service Organizations: Management, Leadership, & Governance (formerly Administration in Social Work) journal. Dr. Hopkins received a Ph.D from the University of Chicago, MSW from the University of Pittsburgh, and a BS from the Pennsylvania State University.
Christina Kominoth works for the Federal Aviation Administration as the Manager of the Strategic Project Management Office in the Office of Human Resource Management. In this capacity, she is responsible for several distinct functions including the Human Resource Business Partner team, the Reports and Analysis Function, the Onboarding Program Office and a group of Senior Project Managers dedicated to strategic projects. She has worked for the FAA for the past eight years and just prior to this position, she served on the Senior Management Team as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Administrator for Human Resource Management.
Although she has served in several positions for the FAA, she began her tenure as the WorkLife Program Manager coordinating the Employee Assistance Program, Telework Program, Crisis Response Team, Health & Wellness Initiatives, and other Work/Life programs for nearly 48,000 employees across the country.
Ms. Kominoth has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland and a Masters of Social Work with a specialization in Employee Assistance Programs and Substance Abuse from the University of Maryland. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Inactive), a Substance Abuse Professional, and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional.
She is trained in Critical Incident Stress Management Services and has provided numerous briefings following incidents of workplace violence, the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the Space Shuttle Columbia accident.

With more than than 35 years of occupational safety and health experience, John maintained professional certifications in the areas of safety and health and enjoyed Emeritus Status from the Board of Environmental, Health and Safety Auditor Certifications.
During his long career in safety, John’s expertise focused on the development of customized training programs that were based on an organization’s culture as well as its regulatory requirements. His training programs established uniform standards and performance benchmarks for managers and the workforce.
John was also one of the first safety professionals to develop behavioral-based safety training programs for inclusion in an organization’s safety program. His behavioral-based safety training programs focused on accountability, in employee attitudes and actions as well as management’s acceptance of responsibility for the behaviors and actions of their employees.
